If Leonardo da Vinci was right (“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”) then this breezy drawing technique is very sophisticated indeed. We begin with a pared-down pencil drawing, splash a layer of color into place, and finish up with ink accents. It’s a fun and satisfying way to draw birds.
