Drawing Mice and Remembering Elsie

The best adventures start in dusty old bookstores. That’s where I found a small book filled with charming birds and mice, drawn in the English countryside when the author was in her 70s. Follow along with me as we meet Elsie Eldridge, a rising star in the 1930s international art world who disappeared into the Welsh moors to paint hedgehogs and damselflies instead.. then draw a field mouse inspired by her unique way of shading fur.

What a lovely lesson Val. I quite like these stylized mice. I am amazed that all her lines are in watercolor and have a hard time imagining how to do that so beautifully!
